Coalition for action by Australian lawmakers from four parties: Protection of Ashraf is responsibility of UN .

In a press conference at the Federal Parliament in Canberra, a non-partisan group of Australian members of Senate and Federal Parliament from the Labor, National and Greens parties announced the solidarity of the members of the Australian Senate and Parliament with the residents of Camp Ashraf and their support for human rights in Iran.

At this press conference, Senator Scott Ladem, representing the Greens Party, Senator John Williams, representing the National Party, Senator Claire Moore, representing the Labor Party, Mr. Calvin Thompson, member of Federal Parliament from Victoria, and Mr. Larry Ferguson, member of Federal Parliament from New South Wales on behalf of the Labor Party, along with Mr. Stephen Volker representing Amnesty International and Father Rivent Bryan Midway from the Organization of Canberra’s Churches were present.
Condemning Nouri al-Maliki’s government for the crimes it has committed against residents of Ashraf since 2009, Senate and Parliament members at this conference, as well as human rights personalities in Australia called on the UN, the U.S. government and the Australian government to protect the residents of Camp Ashraf and asked for removal of restrictions imposed on Ashraf residents by the government of Nouri al-Maliki on behalf of the Iranian regime.
Senator Scott Ladem, from the Greens Party congratulated the representatives that were present at the press conference and praised the solidarity of all Australian parties in support of Ashraf; he called on the Australian government to ask the UN to take on protection of Camp Ashraf.
On behalf of the National Party, Senator John Williams said representatives of the National Party condemn violation of human rights by the Iranian regime and ask for protection of Camp Ashraf in Iraq. He said: At the Australian Senate, we will employ all our efforts to ask the UN and the U.S. government to take on protection of Camp Ashraf. This will need support of all Australian Parliament members and we will do that with cooperation of our friends who are here.
Senator Claire Moore, from the Labor Party said: What happened at Ashraf was a mistake and it is our duty to support Ashraf like many other countries of the words. We are gathered here with our colleagues to discuss this issue and like many other parliaments in the world, announce our solidarity with Ashraf.
Larry Ferguson, member and secretary of the Australian Federal Parliament said: Because of the Iranian regime’s influence in Iraq, I believe these people’s lives are in serious danger. The Iranian regime executes its opponents; it’s a regime that carries out stoning and gouging eyes. We are highly concerned about the Iranian regime’s plots in Iraq against residents of Camp Ashraf.
Calvin Thompson, member of the Federal Parliament from Victoria pointed out the letter that he wrote to Hillary Clinton after the Iraqi forces attack on residents of Ashraf city, and announced his support for the European plan for Ashraf.
The member of Australian Parliament said: The best message we can send to the Australian government today is to cooperate with the UN and the peace keeping force for protection of Camp Ashraf. I believe that Australia should support the European decision for stationing UN and peace keeping forces at Camp Ashraf.
At this conference, Mr. Stephen Volker from Australian Amnesty International pointed out his personal experience when he visited Ashraf city in 2008 and called Camp Ashraf residents heroes of the Iranian people’s freedom and leaders of democracy and human rights in Iran; he then expressed his support for the Australian Parliament’s representatives’ call for protection of Ashraf city’s residents by the UN and its support for the European plan for Ashraf.

Rivent Reverend Bryan Midway from the Organization of Canberra’s Churches was another personality who participated in this press conference. He asked the Parliament members and the Australian government, as the representatives of the free world, to support the rights of Camp Ashraf residents and the PMOI, because their most basic rights have been violated for many years and they have been subjected to violence. He asked for condemning such criminal attacks and protecting the rights and liberties of Ashraf city’s residents.

At the end of the press conference, Mr. Peter Murphy, President of the Committee of Australian Supporters of Iranian resistance issued a statement and praised the coalition for action by Australian lawmakers from four parties at this conference in support of residents of Ashraf city.

Human Rights Council May 2011; UNHCR Chief Navi Pillay speaks on Iran and other countries degrading HR standards

High Commissioner presents update on her Office`s activities at opening of seventeenth session of Human Rights Council
Human Rights Council
MORNING
30 May 2011
Council Holds General Debate
The Human Rights Council this morning opened its seventeenth regular session، hearing an address by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in which she updated the Council on her Office’s activities and then holding a general debate.
Navi Pillay، High Commissioner for Human Rights، noted the rise in demand for fundamental human rights across North Africa and the Middle East and cited it as a result of the decades of denial of civil، cultural، economic، political and social rights، as well as the right to development.
The High Commissioner said that promising first steps had been taken in Tunisia، Egypt، Algeria، Morocco and Jordan toward improving access to fundamental human rights. However، legitimate claims were being met with repression and extreme violence by the governments in Libya and Syria، violating fundamental human rights. The High Commissioner noted that suspects of serious crimes could not escape justice، as was shown with the arrests of Ratko Mladic in Serbia and Bernard Munyagishari in the Democratic Republic of the Congo...

British MP fights for Ashraf : BINLEY: Obama must support Iranian democracy movement

BINLEY: Obama must support Iranian democracy movement

Start the effort by protecting Iranian exiles in Iraq

As President Obama is in London to talk hard global politics about Libya and the Arab Spring, there is little doubt that in discussions about Iraq, the fate of 3,400 Iranians based in Camp Ashraf deserves to be high on the agenda.
Those Iranians are members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI), Iran’s largest opposition group and the greatest thorn in the side of the current Iranian regime for more than 30 years. The PMOI is famed for revealing the Iranian regime’s clandestine nuclear weapons program and also has played a key role in leading the widespread protests that continue to increase in size and ferocity in Iran’s major cities.
The group’s great success and widespread support have meant that it is the Iranian regime’s No. 1 target. Initially, the Iranian regime used nuclear negotiations to demand that the PMOI be blacklisted in the West as a precondition for Tehran’s entering negotiations. U.S., British and European Union governments of the time had decided that appeasement of Tehran was the order of the day. If this meant unjustly blacklisting the regime’s largest opposition group, then so be it. The United Kingdom and EU blacklisting has ended following historic legal battles. No legal justification remains for the ban in the United States, and widespread calls are being made for the PMOI’s blacklisting to be removed sooner rather than later.
Having been defeated in relation to the blacklisting of the PMOI, the Iranian regime has, since the outset of the 2003 invasion of Iraq, looked to crush the PMOI at Camp Ashraf. With Nouri al-Maliki in power in Iraq, the Iranian regime has found an ally willing to jump at the behest of Tehran’s rulers. Iran’s demands were partly met on April 8 when Mr. al-Maliki ordered 2,500 heavily armed troops to enter the camp, shoot at the residents, run them over with military vehicles and destroy their homes. The vicious attack left 35 residents dead and more than 350 wounded, the majority of whom had suffered direct gunshot wounds. Having killed close to 50 residents and wounded close to 1,000 to date, Mr. al-Maliki has vowed to shut the camp at all costs by the end of the year.
Mr. Obama has a clear duty to intervene to protect this group until a lasting solution can be found. He must not forget that he entered his presidency on the back of a campaign in which he vowed to support democratic movements wherever they arise. Unfortunately, during the widespread protests that followed Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s fraudulent return to power for a second term in Iran, the president remained disturbingly silent as the democratic movement was ferociously crushed by the Iranian regime. The U.S. has a clear duty to protect Ashraf residents, to whom it guaranteed protection at the outset of the Iraqi invasion.
Mr. Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron must issue a statement requesting that a United Nations team take control over the safety and security of the camp and guarantee the residents’ safety, preventing further violent assaults by the Iraqi military. Once U.N. protection is provided to the residents, Mr. Obama and Mr. Cameron must back an EU Parliament lead solution, which requires serious and long-term discussions among all parties to find the residents a home away from Iraq and in areas where their safety can be guaranteed by the host nation. This is a clear solution to what increasingly has become an overcomplicated issue.
The story of the residents of Camp Ashraf and their lasting future is not only about providing humanitarian assistance to a beleaguered civilian population at risk of violent assault at the hands of Iraqi and Iranian regimes. It also sends a message to the people of Iran and the region that the U.S. supports their democratic movements and will protect civilian populations from state-sanctioned military assaults against them.
Mr. Obama came to power on the back of a mantra of supporting democracy the world over; he must follow his words with action by guaranteeing the protection of the Camp Ashraf residents and finding a lasting solution to this humanitarian crisis. We should expect nothing less.
Brian Binley is a member of Parliament in the United Kingdom from the Conservative Party.

Mullahs in Iran fear of Internet uprising: We Are still ALIVE and ongoing !

Iran Vows to Unplug Internet

Iran is taking steps toward an aggressive new form of censorship: a so-called national Internet that could, in effect, disconnect Iranian cyberspace from the rest of the world.
The leadership in Iran sees the project as a way to end the fight for control of the Internet, according to observers of Iranian policy inside and outside the country. Iran, already among the most sophisticated nations in online censoring, also promotes its national Internet as a cost-saving measure for consumers and as a way to uphold Islamic moral codes.
In February, as pro-democracy protests spread rapidly across the Middle East and North Africa, Reza Bagheri Asl, director of the telecommunication ministry's research institute, told an Iranian news agency that soon 60% of the nation's homes and businesses would be on the new, internal network. Within two years it would extend to the entire country, he said

Iranian Qods force in Syrian killings (anything new?)

"Officers from Iran's notorious Quds Force have played a key role in Syria's crackdown since at least mid-April," Reports Washington Post on 28 May from US and allied officials.

Syrian regime is, with no doubts, a ruthless one but still very much in need of getting help from Tehran which is master of suppression and brutality.

The Iranian regime on the other hand, feels an obligation to help Syrian President Assad, as it fears its own shakedown and demise.   Any change in Syria will have direct impact on the Iranian regime and the Iranian people who have long desired to free their country.

Change in Syria could also have impact on Tehran's support for Hezbollah. Syria has been the strategic rout for getting some of the logistics to Hezbollah.

However, the real fear for Tehran is the domestic situation. Assad's fall will further isolate the mullahs. Tehran rightly feels vulnerable. The fact that Iran is aiding regional dictators to stay in power, is another sign to its weakness in dealing with what is being called the Arab Spring.  And Iran will continue to stand in the way.

For the same reason it is time to get tough on the Mullah's and broaden sanctions and their worldwide isolation.

One more of my friends died of kidney failure and medical negligence of Iraqi Maliki forces

The details have come out :

Kazem Nematollahi, an Ashraf residents suffering from kidney disease, passed away due to medical siege and obstructions imposed by Ashraf Suppression Committee
Call for international action to lift medical siege

Kazem Nematollahi, 51, who was an Ashraf resident with 22 years of struggle against the Iranian regime, passed away early this morning (May 29, 2011) in Baquba hospital after 9 months of suffering from his disease. His death was due to inhumane medical siege on Ashraf and continued obstructions imposed by the Ashraf Suppression Committee and Omar Khaled, manager of the torture center named as “New Iraq hospital”.

Based on specialist physicians’ prescription on 27 September 2010, Kazem should have undergone dialysis immediately; but it was postponed under various pretexts. The first dialysis was carried out four and a half months later on February 7. According to the doctor’s prescription, Kazem should have gone to Baquba hospital for dialysis twice a week. However, on many occasions he was prevented from being sent to the hospital by the New Iraq hospital whose only function is to torture the patients and wounded in Ashraf. Such delays and hindrances caused his both kidneys stop functioning. The specialist physician in Baquba was severely outraged by the hindrances made by the New Iraq torture center and protested its manager.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, warned on March 8 that Kazem Nematollahi’s kidneys were on the verge of dysfunction due to lack of treatment since a year ago. She reiterated that he needed urgent treatment by specialist physicians but the Iraqi committee tasked with suppression of Ashraf residents refused him.

On May 9th, Kazem’s condition became critical, yet he was denied being sent to Baquba hospital. Two days later when his condition was extremely critical, he was transferred to the CCU in the Baquba hospital. On May 19th, when the patient went to the New Iraq hospital to be sent to Baquba for the second time, Omar Khaled rejected his request while insulting him. After three days on May 22nd, being in extremely critical condition, he was transferred to CCU in the Baquba hospital. A big number of Ashraf residents volunteered to donate one of their kidneys to save Kazem; fifteen residents went to the New Iraq hospital to be transferred to the Baquba hospital to donate their kidneys, but Omar Khalid rejected them and told them to come later.
In his letter of February 1st to the representatives of the United Nations, Kazem warned: “ I am worried that they might continue these limitations and delays to the point when my both kidneys stop functioning…The lives of patients in Ashraf are of no importance to Omar Khaled, manager of New Iraq hospital that is under the command of illegal Committee affiliated to the Prime Ministry. Not only he does not provide any facilities for treating the patients, but on the contrary, every day he takes further measures to impose pressures on the patients and to molest them by obstructing their treatment.”

Earlier, Mehdi Fathi and Mohammad Reza Heydarian, two residents of Ashraf, had passed away in last December and January, after long period of suffering from their illnesses, because they had been denied free access to medical services due to hindrances caused by the Ashraf Suppression Committee.

While emphasizing that the Ashraf Suppression Committee and Nouri al-Maliki, under whose direct orders the repressive measures and Ashraf siege are imposed, are directly responsible for the death of Kazem Nematollahi, Mehdi Fathi and Mohammad Reza Heydarian, the Iranian Resistance asks for immediate international action to stop medical siege and to provide free access of Ashraf residents to medical services in order to save the lives of the wounded and patients in Ashraf.

Over 1500 prominent Jordanians condemn attack on Ashraf .

Over 1,500 Jordanian personalities, including 15 parliamentarians, have strongly condemned the Iraqi government’s attack on Camp Ashraf in April, according to the Kuwaiti daily al-Sayassah.

Dozens of politicians and diplomats joined hundreds of jurists, judges and independent Islamic figures, academic figures and journalists to condemn the attack. They represented a wide range of political views from over 100 political parties and movements.

According to the Kuwaiti daily, in a statement, the Jordanian personalities said, “We express displeasure and condemn the attack on Ashraf using the strongest of terms.
