U.S. and UN Should Carry Out Their Promises to Iranian Dissidents

As the Iraqi government was tightening the screws on the 3,400 Iranian dissidents at Camp Ashraf, the UN (with U.S. help) brokered a deal to move them to an abandoned U.S. Army base near Baghdad, where they would be processed as refugees for transfer to third countries.
It's hard to believe, but that was SIX MONTHS ago. And what has happened in that time? More than half of the these members of the People Mujahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK) - in an effort to show good faith and accept the promises of the international community - have been relocated in Camp Liberty, an ironic name to say the least.
There, they have been subjected to prison-like conditions, harsh treatment, lack of basic sanitary facilities, and totally unacceptable restrictions at the hands of the Iraqi government of Nouri al-Maliki, who is nothing more than a proxy for the regime in Tehran.
And what of the U.S. and UN promises to these innocent individuals who heeded the appeal of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the Iranian Resistance, to accept the move as part of a supposed quid pro quo that would mean their freedom elsewhere in a short time?
Well, that short time becomes ever longer. And the promised UN processing of these "refugees" has not resulted in a single individual being relocated from Camp Liberty. Instead, that facility grows more overcrowded by the day, with the accompanying worsening of conditions.
To make matters worse, the U.S. has done nothing to remove the MEK from its list of foreign terrorist organisations.
For reasons that have never been explained, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton linked that action to the move from Ashraf to Liberty. Yet, despite the MEK bending over backwards to accede to U.S. demands, they are still waiting for the promised delisting.
Almost a month has gone by since a U.S. Federal District Court gave the State Department until October to act on the listing or the court would do it itself, yet not a word has been heard from Foggy Bottom on the issue.
Both of these matters were the subject of a massive rally of more than 100,000 Iranians last weekend in a Paris suburb - together with the larger issue of freedom for all of Iran from the tyrannical rule of the mullahs.
This gathering of Iranians from around the world, together with hundreds of their international supporters from nations near and far, fully noted the latest failure of Western negotiators to get any concessions from Tehran regarding its nuclear ambitions.
Since the negotiations began, three months have passed, with no obvious progress. Indeed, the only result is that the Iranian regime is three months closer to its ambition of developing not only nuclear energy for its own domestic use but also nuclear weapons to enhance its threat of terror in the Middle East.
It was heartening to see the broad support for the cause of Iranian Resistance from military leaders, diplomats, lawyers, UN ambassadors, writers, Pulitzer and Nobel Prize winners, and of course politicians from across the spectrum, all united in the cause of a Free Iran.
It also was inspiring to hear the words of Mrs. Rajavi, at the mass gathering:
"... I see in you and with you tens of millions of Iranians who are yearning for freedom.
"I hear the voice of my brave sisters across our homeland.
"I hear the voice of proud prisoners of conscience in the dungeons of Ali Khamenei.
"And I hear the voice of students, workers, teachers and all those who long for freedom and liberation.
"Indeed, all of us hear your outcry from the four corners of Iran and your voice resonates in our ears.
"Indeed, the cry of every Iranian is Freedom, Freedom.
"In you, I see the enraged peoples of the Middle East who have risen up against despotic and murderous regimes. I mean the people of Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and other regional countries whose representatives are here today."
Yes, she inspired us, and we will continue to demand justice until the world acts on her vision.
Meanwhile, we must continue to press the United States and the UN to keep their promises.
Surely that is not too much to ask - is it?

600 lawmakers: Breaking the cycle of Ruse against MEK

“The pressing issue regarding Iran is neither confronting the regime’s nuclear program issue nor its terrorism. The main issue is to change this regime…your movement and your leadership, President-elect Maryam Rajavi, have the capacity to bring about change in Iran and to establish democracy in that country.”
-Mr.Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the U.S House of Representatives, addressing Iranians in Paris, 24 June 2012.
The recent 100 000 gathering of the Iranian opposition (MEK and NCRI) had this to say to the world:
The alliance of genocide and massacre from Tehran to Baghdad to Damascus cannot withstand the gale for democratic change and Freedom. Years of futile diplomatic tussling has boiled down to consecutive setback for the West and a defiant raving religious fascism which is a threat to world peace. Regime change is inevitable. The secret to a peaceful and stable Middle East is to invest in the pivotal force which has displayed a practical ability for tolerance, organization and public support.
The leader of the opposition to the clerical regime in Iran was the key speaker at the huge gathering in Paris. Maryam Rajavi introduced as the Iranian Pasionaria by the French television is the president-elect of the national coalition of democratic and secular forces of Iran. The metal engineer graduate and former political prisoner who has lost two of her sisters during the 50s and 60s in Iran said:
Let me reiterate that the aim of this movement has never been and still is not to grab power at all costs. Our aim is to guarantee freedom and democracy at any expense The Iranian resistance has come a long way and has always been based on transparency, truth and justice and respect for mankind’s achievements and virtues. It is based on the return of international institutions to defending human rights, based on restoring the rights of the peoples and reviving the value of resistance and sacrifice.
The Iranian Leader reflected on US values and said her respect and recognition of real American values has derived from the honor and courage displayed by a line of US officials and lawmakers that have preserved the spirit of Justice and not the flawed policy of appeasement of tyrants in Iran.
It is my hope that Secretary Clinton would turn this oppressive and unfair page in the history of U.S. policy and personally bring an end to this unlawful designation,” she said.
Unlike the previous year when, speakers lashed out against the recalcitrant, fractious regime in Tehran that would not submit to the harness, this year the highlight of speeches was set on two main issues:
§  The historic achievements of the opposition in its legal battle to gain the basic right to resist Tyranny and the role of its leadership in preserving perseverance and tolerance in face of plots to disintegrate the movement.
§  The historic crossroads to make the inevitable choice of siding with the people and their resistance rather than bow to Tehran’s lies and deception.
Judge Michal Mukasey, former Attorney General of the United States, the nation’s chief law enforcement officer, said: “It is rare that people have an opportunity to hold their fate and the fate of others in their hands as we do now. And we must be careful not to open our fingers and let this chance slip away, because if we do we cannot expect to look down and find it there again. I thank you for your courage and your dedication, and the courage and dedication of Mrs. Rajavi and the entire leadership of MEK and for being an example to all of us and the world; never to give up the struggle for freedom.”
Mayor Rudy Giuliani underscored the historic stage laid out to determine the political landscape of the region and said: ”It’s about time that the United States of America, the European Union, all the countries of the world stand together with one very, very powerful voice and powerful argument; Regime change in Iran. The people of Egypt overthrew Mubarak. The people of Libya overthrew Kaddafi. The people of Syria are attempting to overthrow Assad. They’ve all been praised as freedom fighters. Well, what about the people of Iran? You seek to overthrow the most oppressive regime in the region; more oppressive than Mubarak, Kaddafi and Assad. Why are those countries that supported overthrow of those regimes not supporting the overthrow of the Iranian mullahs?”
The fact that appeasement failed completely to change the mindset of the Iranian theocracy did not discourage those who keep defending negotiations with the regime (or its “reformists” or “moderates”) at all costs.
Mayor Giuliani rejected the fallacy of negotiating with Tyrants and said: “We cling to the misguided notion that we can talk to the mullahs that we can negotiate with the mullahs. They use discussions as a pretext so that they can develop nuclear armaments. And it’s about time we stand up to them.”
The former New York mayor pointed the finger at the 100 000 gathering and said: “Wouldn’t this world be safer with an Iran that is dedicated to democracy, to freedom, freedom for women, freedom for all people, to the rule of law? Of course it would be. And unlike other places such as Egypt, Libya, Syria, there’s an alternative right now that exists here and in Iran to replace this regime: with all of you.”
Former French Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy said he joined the protests to tell the Iranian people that they have support. “We are supporting the Iranian people until they get their freedom and liberate all Iranians from a corrupt regime that is not fit for ruling in the 21st century”.
Ambassador of European Union to Combat Poverty and Social Exclusion, Tasha de Vasconcelos, said she sides with the Iranian people in their demands for freedom. “I am with the change that Iranian youth want to effect.”
Ingrid Betancourt, Colombian politician, former senator and anti-corruption activist spoke passionately of the members of the Iranian resistance: “We are going to fight to the end for Ashraf residents. We will not accept their relocation without any guarantee. They are not alone and the entire world is standing with them to defend their rights.
The former hostage victim commended the brave role played by the chain of command and leadership of the MEK by women and said: “To my sisters in Ashraf: I am proud to be on the same side fighting the same combat with Maryam Rajavi. Don’t you think that a group of misogynists are going to be defeated by a group of women? We don’t accept that the mullahs are using the name of God to kill their people and to bring the atomic bomb.”
The Canadian group put forward David Kilgour, former Canadian Cabinet Minister and Deputy Speaker, as their spokesperson as they joined him on the platform. Mr. Kilgour said: The tens of thousands of us from forty countries on every continent here today, know the importance of a democratic Iran, to achieve a peaceful Middle East and world.
The gathering was a display of unparalleled bipartisan and International support for an opposition movement which is under intense reclusive smear campaign heeded by Tehran. The reverent and continuous display of support by delegates from five continents, 40 Senates and parliaments was accomplished when representatives from Syrian, Libyan and Egyptian Springs announced their support for the MEK; an incredible achievement that would melt the ice set on the dissidents by a glamorous defamation campaign.
Dr. Mosharaf from along with 300 of his friends had joined the gathering from Afghanistan in order to declare unity with the Iranian opposition in its struggle to bring freedom and democracy to Iran;
“We believe that our two nations have the same problem. It is the Tyrannical regime in Tehran that spins poison in the region. We pay tribute to Ashraf and Liberty for their perseverance and tolerance in face of all ploys by Tehran and would send this message: Regime change in Iran is not only the desire of the Iranian people but the key to regional peace, only if he MEK/MKO (Mujahedeen-e-khalq of Iran) are delisted by the State department.”
The US State Department seems to be lagging behind the gale for democratic change and unlike Obama Administration election mottos, the US foreign policy is not gaining momentum but dropping out of the inevitable political change in the Middle East. Something that would interests its Russian counterpart.
The Key to a face uplift would be to pace up and delist the pro-democracy opposition to the Iranian menace and join the growing trend of public opinion.

USCCAR condemns UNAMI CHIEF conduct over MEK Liberty:demands UN neutrality and obligations to Refugees in camp

USCCAR

On behalf of thousands of Iranian-Americans whose loved ones are in camps Ashraf and Liberty in Iraq, the US Committee for Camp Ashraf Residents (USCCAR) strongly condemns the mounting pressure exerted on the 3,200 Iranian dissidents in Iraq by UN Secretary-General's Special Representative, Martin Kobler.

His actions and words have only served the murderous regime in Iran and the Nuri al-Maliki government in Iraq, which has been doing the bidding of Tehran.

MEK June 23 VillePinte Convention- Support Democracy In Iran

International decry over malfeasance in US State Department over the FTO listing of MEK; endangering lives of thousands in Camp Liberty and Iran, demanding Camp liberty recognized as Refugee Camp.

72 years ago today, General Charles de Gaulle, the leader of the French Resistance, announced the start of resistance against Nazism while in exile. His voice still resonates today in the Iranian resistance: “Whatever happens, the flames of resistance must not be and will not be extinguished.”

The past three decades have been the most turbulent in the Middle East. The eye of the storm has been Iran. The main element that can capsize the balance for Peace in the region is a pro-democratic group (MEK), feared by Tehran. The group has repeated one message all along in its epic struggle against the religious fascists in Iran:

World gathering in Paris-Villepinte on June 23, to support the Iranian resistance: MEK must be de-listed, Camp Liberty must be announced as Refugee Camp and protected from clerical ploys.

The past three decades have been the most turbulent in the Middle East. The eye of the storm has been Iran. The main element that can capsize the balance for Peace in the region is a pro-democratic group (MEK), feared by Tehran

The group has repeated one message all along its epic struggle against the religious fascists in Iran:
The only pathway for a rational and practical solution for the Iranian crisis is a democratic change brought about by the people and their organized resistance.

This call has been echoed recently in a statement released by the International Committee In Search of Justice, composed of 4000 Parliamentarians; the Bahrain Parliament and the Dutch Senate.
For years, the resistance group has engaged its human, financial and organizational resources in making this reality a fact for hallucinated pundits and policy makers who have taken the credit for prolonging the regime’s rule for two more decades. Despite their complicity in crimes committed by this regime, these policy makers have failed to provide it with legitimacy and stability it should gain from a public and popular vote.

The message has been crystal clear:
-It has been proven that a viper will never give birth to a dove, meaning that this regime cannot be reformed and the notion of moderation within the velayat-e faqih regime [absolute clerical rule] is a mere myth.
-It has been proven that no alternatives can be found within the ruling theocracy and during  an endless cycle of eliminating its splinters and increasingly closing its ranks, the regime is devouring its own factions, just as it has weakened; Moussav;Rafsanjan;Khatami and even Ahmadinejad.
-It has been proven that this regime is demagogic and inhumane; that it cannot stay in power without committing torture, execution and hangings; without war and export of crisis and terrorism.
- It has been proven that it will not tolerate any submission to neutralizing its quest for the nuclear arsenal and with the masterly sleight of hand will use every tactic to buy time and complete its objective.
Last year according to participants, at least 90,000 people gathered in Villepinte-Paris, France. The gathering hosted a spectacular platform of unity in the presence of hundreds of politicians and parliamentarians from Europe, America and the Middle East. The declaration of support of 4000 parliamentarians’ majorities of 30 parliaments, 5000 mayors in Europe and 3000 religious emissaries from Europe and the United States were among the list of achievements announced to the gathering..

This year the occasion is on June 23 with a broader agenda to declare support for the Iranian Resistance under the leadership of their charismatic leader Maryam Rajavi.
It will be the most glamorous and unique congregation of anti-fundamentalist, pro-democratic elements worldwide.
The grandeur of the 2011gathering was explained by Andrew card, White House Chief of Staff (2001-2006) as a great reflection of support for the Iranian Resistance (PMOI);
“It is truly time for the people all over the world who care about democracy to stand with the Iranian people and the PMOI in the struggle for democracy.”

Henri Leclerc, prominent European Attorney, Honorary President of the League of Human Rights highlighted one major letdown in his speech ;
“It was a disgrace to treat those who fulfill their right to resist against a tyrannical regime as terrorists. I would like to address President Obama from here and say: Yes, Mr. Obama, for some time, you were an example of the American Dream for us here. We believe that the people of the United States are not complicit in crimes. But, you cannot keep the residents of Ashraf on the terror list and thereby provide an excuse for their deaths. They are the representatives and spokespersons for all resistance activists everywhere. We must end labeling them as terrorists, and we must support the Iranian people with all our might. It is with certainty that they will attain their freedom.”

Mek- State Dept. Vs Rule Of Law

The FTO-List Analysis: US State Department Appeasing The Mullahs By: Soharb safavi If there be any among us who would wish to dissolve the Union or to change its republican form, let them stand undisturbed as monuments of the safety with which error of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it. Thomas Jefferson Christopher Hitchens once said: A sure sign of ineptitude and malice is manifested when one's attacker is willing to cover himself with mud in order to try and make some of it adhere to his target. We have been witnessing the same repellant tactics in a smear campaign against MEK- US official supporters only to provide cover for the failed Policy of the US State department towards the Iranian crisis. The core argument behind the current smear campaign against the MEK and its US supporters is that this main Iranian opposition group to the clerical tyrants in Iran is still in the US black list. The term “terrorism” can be double standard unless defined by rule and established by the rule of law. It is to distinguish any group or persons that choose to challenge an establishment: “A person, usually a member of a group, uses or advocates terrorism, or;A person who terrorizes or frightens civilians. A popular saying that “One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter” simply indicates the struggle between good and evil and right and wrong. But the moral question remains, literally speaking: who are the terrorists, and who are the freedom fighters? The list of "Foreign Terrorist Organization" is a designation for non-United States-based organizations declared terrorist by the United States Secretary of State in accordance with section 219 of the U.S.Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). read more at : http://bit.ly/HJ1Xpz

Framing The Core Issue: MEK Court Appeal Against US State Department

By Sadegh Sistani, on March 27th, 2012 Foreign Policy is putting out cheap journalism by Josh Rogin demonizing the Iranian opposition. Josh Rogins’ mystery series in Foreign Policy, with a recent one titled “Terrorist group's supporters throw party in U.S. Congress |”repeat the Iranian regime’s stale allegations against the main organized opposition group People’s Mujahedin of Iran (MEK) and do a disservice to the Foreign Policy’s record of unbiased journalism. They are part of an effort by Iran’s intelligence ministry to demonize the supporters of the Iranian resistance. Some 22 courts in the UK, Europe and the US have ruled that the MEK is not involved in terrorism; furthermore, the European Union de-proscribed the group in 2009 after the courts rejected the very allegations that the articles have yet again brought up. The piece represents a desperate, albeit futile attempt to block, in contravention of the Rule of law and the statutory requirements, the removal of the MEK from the State Department’s list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTO). Rogins’ shedding of crocodile tears for Justice over crime, appears disingenuous given the absence of a mere criticism, let alone condemnation, of the Ayatollahs vicious collective hangings ongoing and the last two blood lead attacks on the victims of an “inhumane massacre in Camp Ashraf.” As far as his concern for complications provided for US MEK supporters in “providing material” support is concerned, Mr. Rogin does not have a clue what these “material” supports are in the legal context and conceals his ignorance by assuming it may include “advocacy”. In a previous reply to similar salivated suggestions Former Trustee of President Bush and High judge Michael Mukasey had this to add: Suggestions that our conduct raises a question under the material-support statute is undone by the text of the law itself. The statute barring material assistance to organizations on the State Department’s list of foreign terrorist organizations (“FTO”) says that although “material assistance” includes “personnel,” and although “personnel” may include the person providing the assistance — here, the four of us — the “personnel” have to be working “under that [FTO’s] direction or control.” And then, just to make explicit what is already obvious, the law continues: “Individuals who act entirely independently of the [FTO] to advance its goals or objectives shall not be considered to be working under the [FTO]’s direction and control.” As a result, we felt quite secure, thank you, in relying on the protection Congress placed in the statute, backed up by the First Amendment. As far as Rogins mystery series are concerned “Things are not what they appear to be”. This hypothesis mediated by Mr. Rogin is to lure readers into anti-MEK sentiments. Thereafter; the wave of sentiments and the “much ado about nothing” would cleverly cover US – UNAMI dogged obligations in face of any humanitarian tragedy for the 3400 of Camp Ashraf. It would be a far more “crime” to accomplice readers into a “Crime against Humanity” and “sin” than any alleged financial controversy. The main issue which is being submerged under this entire anti-MEK blitz is that the Washington appeals court on Monday gave the US government until March 26 to examine quickly a request by the main Iranian opposition group to be taken off a US terror blacklist, which is causing immediate threat and deaths to their families and members. In a conference recently Governor Tom Ridge had this to say: “You will not silence us. Whoever is responsible has a moment of quiet reflection, I suggest that they just take a look at the Constitution of the United States, the Bill of Rights, and particularly take a look at that first amendment. It’s called freedom of speech, the same freedom of speech that the men and women of MEK aspire to under the leadership of Mrs. Rajavi, the same freedom of speech that democratic opposition throughout Iran aspire to. at the end of the day we will continue to stand on the right side of history with the people of MEK, the freedom-loving people of MEK at Liberty and Ashraf until they are resettled. Mayor Rudi Giuliani reacted to the hsosh posh of the “treasurey” hunt : “Speaking for myself and so many of my colleagues, that anonymous, cowardly sources in the State Department or elsewhere who unknowingly are doing the bidding of the mullahs don’t frighten me, won’t stop me, won’t stop any of us, ever.” Former High Judge Michael Mukasey also commented on the “anonymous” comments recently used in mysterious press campaigns: “It’s a funny thing about anonymous sources, what are they afraid of? They must be afraid of something. They’re afraid to have their names used. Look at the timing. The MEK tells the State Department and the Justice Department, “You know, you’ve been dragging your feet long enough with this designation. We’re going to go into court.” They gave them not only advanced notice that they’re going to do it, they gave them an advanced copy of the papers they were going to file. And they disclosed the names of the people. Mayor Giuliani, Tom Ridge, others, many others, who would have also filed paper in court as friends of the court, telling them on the basis of our experience and our knowledge—many people on that brief directly involved in national security affairs—that there is no basis, no reason for that designation. They were told that in advance. And lo and behold a couple days later subpoenas get served on the speaker agencies that send those people out to express their views.” To be used or allowed to mislead the public into bogus issues in order to cover the main highlight is unethical and unprincipled modus operandi by Foreign Policy, which boasts of “FP's award-winnings” only, serves to pave the way for another massacre of the residents in satisfaction of the Iranian clerical fascists. Responce to MSNBC lies about MEK

Response from the Natonal Council of Resistance of Iran
Editor's note: The following reponse to this article was received after publication from Shahin Gobadi, a spokesman for the Nationa Council of Resistance of Iran.
The claim that the Mujahedin-e Khalq (PMOI/MEK) had any role in the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientists and the claim of the PMOI/MEK cooperation with Mossad is a sheer lie without even a scintilla of truth.
The National Council of Resistance of Iran has repeatedly denied the baseless allegation of playing a role in the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientists. The primary source of this baseless allegation has been the propaganda machine of the Iranian regime and its officials. The last MEK denial was on January 11, 2012. Faced with tightening sanctions, growing internal and international isolation, the prospect of losing its strategic ally in Syria and growing internecine internal feuding, the clerical regime is paranoid about the prospect of delisting of the MEK by the U.S. Department of State. As such, it resorts to any fabrication and fairy tales, including the one that has been rehashed by NBC, to prevent the delisting of the MEK.
The Iranian Resistance revealed last year that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei had ordered a special unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) to liquidate any managers or experts in nuclear projects if it detected that they are distancing themselves from the regime or intend to leave the country. He also said that the killings should be blamed on the MEK, the U.S., Israeli operatives or “world arrogance”.
On January 7, Fereydoon Abbassi, the Director of Atomic Organization of Iran, referred to widespread dissatisfaction among the regime's nuclear experts and told IRGC-run Fars news agency: "One should not lose site of the fact that just as we had deserters during the war, there are those scientists who refrain from cooperating with nuclear projects in order to maintain their international ties... Of course, we have never been worried and are not worried about this issue since there are plenty of human resources and experts in the country. At the moment, there is greater demand for activity in nuclear projects than there is the possibility.”  He predicted curiously that since the enemy cannot prevent the entry of science in Iran, "it resorts to assassinating Iranian scientists."
The totally fabricated story on the MEK is nothing but rehash of the thread-bare and baseless propaganda by the clerical regime. It gets repeated for a sole political objective: To justify the illegal, immoral, and baseless continuation of terrorist designation of the MEK by the State Department. A listing that is totally discredited, punctured from all directions and is on its death bed. It should be reiterated that no fantasy story such as the one by NBC and remarks by anonymous officials who according to the article make vague comments such as "all your inclinations are correct," cannot provide last minute oxygen to keep this listing alive.
The DC Federal Appeals Court ruled on July 2010 that there were no credible evidence on this listing and all of the documents provided by the State Department had been heresy and uncorroborated.  It said their sources were unknown or suspect and some were in and of themselves implausible. Thus, the court ordered the State Department to review this listing. More than 100 members of Congress, including Representative Mike Rogers (R-MI), Chairman of the House Select Committee on Intelligence, in a rare bipartisan initiative called for revoking of the listing. Dozens of the most senior national security officials of the past four administrations have joined this campaign.
Contrary to the claim of the article, this rare consensus, as has been stipulated by the most senior national security officials of the past four administrations, is because there exists no evidence and document connecting the MEK with terrorism and the US government has not been able to provide even a single document to this effect.
It is not a coincidence that the main source of this story, similar to the shows broadcast by mullahs on their state TVs, is Mohammad Javad Larijani, who has been introduced as advisor to Ali Khamanei.
The main mission of Larijani, who in fact has been one the ideologues of the ruling dictatorship, is to justify at the international stage the brutal suppression, public hangings and stoning to death  of Iranian people by the clerical regime.
Blaming others for what oneself does, is one of the main attributes of Iranian regime and its officials. In fact, Larijani is the same person that on 1990 officially declared that the only means for the survival of the clerical regime was to expand its fundamentalist brand of Islam other Islamic countries.  It is clear that the main means of this expansion has been export of terrorism, and fundamentalism.
The unfounded nature of these allegation become all the more clear if one recalls the claim about MEK's cooperation with the Ramzi Yousef for bombing Imam Reza Shrine in Mashad in 1994. This allegation amounts to defamation and could be pursued legally.  The MEK has never had any contact or connection to Ramzi Yousef. It is very telling that when this tragic bombing took place on June 20, 1994, Ali Khamenei, personally attributed the bombing to the MEK, something the MEK flatly denied at the time. A few years later, during the regime's factional feuding, a former member of the regime's Ministry of Intelligence (MOIS) revealed that the bombing had been perpetrated by the MOIS and in particular by Saeed Emami faction, then a deputy of the MOIS.
Shahin Gobadi, National Council of Resistance of Iran, Paris, February 9, 2012
