600 lawmakers: Breaking the cycle of Ruse against MEK

“The pressing issue regarding Iran is neither confronting the regime’s nuclear program issue nor its terrorism. The main issue is to change this regime…your movement and your leadership, President-elect Maryam Rajavi, have the capacity to bring about change in Iran and to establish democracy in that country.”
-Mr.Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the U.S House of Representatives, addressing Iranians in Paris, 24 June 2012.
The recent 100 000 gathering of the Iranian opposition (MEK and NCRI) had this to say to the world:
The alliance of genocide and massacre from Tehran to Baghdad to Damascus cannot withstand the gale for democratic change and Freedom. Years of futile diplomatic tussling has boiled down to consecutive setback for the West and a defiant raving religious fascism which is a threat to world peace. Regime change is inevitable. The secret to a peaceful and stable Middle East is to invest in the pivotal force which has displayed a practical ability for tolerance, organization and public support.
The leader of the opposition to the clerical regime in Iran was the key speaker at the huge gathering in Paris. Maryam Rajavi introduced as the Iranian Pasionaria by the French television is the president-elect of the national coalition of democratic and secular forces of Iran. The metal engineer graduate and former political prisoner who has lost two of her sisters during the 50s and 60s in Iran said:
Let me reiterate that the aim of this movement has never been and still is not to grab power at all costs. Our aim is to guarantee freedom and democracy at any expense The Iranian resistance has come a long way and has always been based on transparency, truth and justice and respect for mankind’s achievements and virtues. It is based on the return of international institutions to defending human rights, based on restoring the rights of the peoples and reviving the value of resistance and sacrifice.
The Iranian Leader reflected on US values and said her respect and recognition of real American values has derived from the honor and courage displayed by a line of US officials and lawmakers that have preserved the spirit of Justice and not the flawed policy of appeasement of tyrants in Iran.
It is my hope that Secretary Clinton would turn this oppressive and unfair page in the history of U.S. policy and personally bring an end to this unlawful designation,” she said.
Unlike the previous year when, speakers lashed out against the recalcitrant, fractious regime in Tehran that would not submit to the harness, this year the highlight of speeches was set on two main issues:
§  The historic achievements of the opposition in its legal battle to gain the basic right to resist Tyranny and the role of its leadership in preserving perseverance and tolerance in face of plots to disintegrate the movement.
§  The historic crossroads to make the inevitable choice of siding with the people and their resistance rather than bow to Tehran’s lies and deception.
Judge Michal Mukasey, former Attorney General of the United States, the nation’s chief law enforcement officer, said: “It is rare that people have an opportunity to hold their fate and the fate of others in their hands as we do now. And we must be careful not to open our fingers and let this chance slip away, because if we do we cannot expect to look down and find it there again. I thank you for your courage and your dedication, and the courage and dedication of Mrs. Rajavi and the entire leadership of MEK and for being an example to all of us and the world; never to give up the struggle for freedom.”
Mayor Rudy Giuliani underscored the historic stage laid out to determine the political landscape of the region and said: ”It’s about time that the United States of America, the European Union, all the countries of the world stand together with one very, very powerful voice and powerful argument; Regime change in Iran. The people of Egypt overthrew Mubarak. The people of Libya overthrew Kaddafi. The people of Syria are attempting to overthrow Assad. They’ve all been praised as freedom fighters. Well, what about the people of Iran? You seek to overthrow the most oppressive regime in the region; more oppressive than Mubarak, Kaddafi and Assad. Why are those countries that supported overthrow of those regimes not supporting the overthrow of the Iranian mullahs?”
The fact that appeasement failed completely to change the mindset of the Iranian theocracy did not discourage those who keep defending negotiations with the regime (or its “reformists” or “moderates”) at all costs.
Mayor Giuliani rejected the fallacy of negotiating with Tyrants and said: “We cling to the misguided notion that we can talk to the mullahs that we can negotiate with the mullahs. They use discussions as a pretext so that they can develop nuclear armaments. And it’s about time we stand up to them.”
The former New York mayor pointed the finger at the 100 000 gathering and said: “Wouldn’t this world be safer with an Iran that is dedicated to democracy, to freedom, freedom for women, freedom for all people, to the rule of law? Of course it would be. And unlike other places such as Egypt, Libya, Syria, there’s an alternative right now that exists here and in Iran to replace this regime: with all of you.”
Former French Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy said he joined the protests to tell the Iranian people that they have support. “We are supporting the Iranian people until they get their freedom and liberate all Iranians from a corrupt regime that is not fit for ruling in the 21st century”.
Ambassador of European Union to Combat Poverty and Social Exclusion, Tasha de Vasconcelos, said she sides with the Iranian people in their demands for freedom. “I am with the change that Iranian youth want to effect.”
Ingrid Betancourt, Colombian politician, former senator and anti-corruption activist spoke passionately of the members of the Iranian resistance: “We are going to fight to the end for Ashraf residents. We will not accept their relocation without any guarantee. They are not alone and the entire world is standing with them to defend their rights.
The former hostage victim commended the brave role played by the chain of command and leadership of the MEK by women and said: “To my sisters in Ashraf: I am proud to be on the same side fighting the same combat with Maryam Rajavi. Don’t you think that a group of misogynists are going to be defeated by a group of women? We don’t accept that the mullahs are using the name of God to kill their people and to bring the atomic bomb.”
The Canadian group put forward David Kilgour, former Canadian Cabinet Minister and Deputy Speaker, as their spokesperson as they joined him on the platform. Mr. Kilgour said: The tens of thousands of us from forty countries on every continent here today, know the importance of a democratic Iran, to achieve a peaceful Middle East and world.
The gathering was a display of unparalleled bipartisan and International support for an opposition movement which is under intense reclusive smear campaign heeded by Tehran. The reverent and continuous display of support by delegates from five continents, 40 Senates and parliaments was accomplished when representatives from Syrian, Libyan and Egyptian Springs announced their support for the MEK; an incredible achievement that would melt the ice set on the dissidents by a glamorous defamation campaign.
Dr. Mosharaf from along with 300 of his friends had joined the gathering from Afghanistan in order to declare unity with the Iranian opposition in its struggle to bring freedom and democracy to Iran;
“We believe that our two nations have the same problem. It is the Tyrannical regime in Tehran that spins poison in the region. We pay tribute to Ashraf and Liberty for their perseverance and tolerance in face of all ploys by Tehran and would send this message: Regime change in Iran is not only the desire of the Iranian people but the key to regional peace, only if he MEK/MKO (Mujahedeen-e-khalq of Iran) are delisted by the State department.”
The US State Department seems to be lagging behind the gale for democratic change and unlike Obama Administration election mottos, the US foreign policy is not gaining momentum but dropping out of the inevitable political change in the Middle East. Something that would interests its Russian counterpart.
The Key to a face uplift would be to pace up and delist the pro-democracy opposition to the Iranian menace and join the growing trend of public opinion.

400 Iran exiles reluctantly move to new Iraq home

18 2012 By LARA JAKES
BAGHDAD — Lugging clothes, tables and whatever else they were allowed to bring, roughly 400 members of an Iranian exile group reluctantly moved Saturday from their camp in northwestern Iraq to a deserted military base outside the capital in what they called a show of good faith that they eventually will be allowed to leave the country peacefully.

It was the first group to move of the more than 3,300 members of the People's Mujahedeen Organization of Iran who have lived at Camp Ashraf for three decades.

Iraq moves batch of Iranian dissidents from camp

Reuters - BAGHDAD - Sat Feb 18, 2012

Iraq evacuated an initial batch of 400 Iranian dissidents on Saturday from a base founded under Saddam Hussein, a first step towards expelling their entire group from Iraqi territory.

The People's Mujahideen Organisation of Iran (PMOI), a group that calls for the overthrow of Iran's clerical rulers, took refuge at Camp Ashraf, 65 km (40 miles) from Baghdad, during the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war. Ashraf now houses around 3,000 people.

USCCAR Urges Secretary Clinton to Ensure Iraqi Guarantees for Safety and Security of 400 Iranian Asylum Seekers in Camp Liberty

WASHINGTON, Feb. 19, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Friday, February 17, 2012, as a goodwill gesture, 400 Iranian dissidents residing in Camp Ashraf in Iraq since 1986, many with families and relatives in the United States, began their relocation from Camp Ashraf, their home of 25 years, to Camp Liberty, a former U.S. military base near Baghdad international airport, even though minimum guarantees for their safety and security have not been provided by the Iraqi Government or the United Nations.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has formally recognized the residents of Ashraf as "asylum seekers" and "persons of concern," which entitles them to fundamental protections and security based on humanitarian standards.

Nevertheless, the Iraqi Government, with the tacit approval of the UN Secretary General's Special Representative, Martin Kobler, has relocated our loved ones to Camp Liberty which, contrary to its name, is, by all indications, more like a prison than a transitional facility for "asylum seekers".
The Iraqi-imposed inhumane and humiliating conditions under which 400 residents were inspected and then transferred to Camp Liberty, as well as the atrociously sub-humane living conditions of the camp amply reveal the nefarious intentions of the Iraqi Government.

Equally appalling is the fact that the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), which is expected to be playing a humanitarian role, has increasingly acted to accommodate the Iraqi Government in exerting pressure against the residents.

Not surprising, emboldened by the UNAMI chief's repeatedly one-sided actions and positions to the detriment of Ashraf residents, the Iraqi Government has heightened it's blatant and repeated violations of the residents' human rights and the December 25 Memorandum of Understating.

The US Committee for Camp Ashraf Residents (USCCAR), representing thousands of Iranian-Americans whose loved-ones reside in Camp Ashraf, urges Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to uphold the United States' long-standing moral and legal obligations to ensure safety and security of the residents of Ashraf, particularly those 400 who are now at the mercy of Iraqi Government in Camp Liberty.

Specifically, Secretary Clinton, in line with her assurances provided on February 15, should ensure that the Iraqi Government removes its draconian restrictions on the 400 Iranian dissidents in Camp Liberty, guarantee the withdrawal of the Iraqi police from inside the camp and the freedom of movement of the residents - as stipulated by the UNHCR, as well as the unhindered access of the residents to their lawyers and their families.

Absent these guarantees, the stage would be set by the Iraqi Government to seriously jeopardize the safety and security of our loved ones in Camp Liberty. USCCAR urges the United States to address the serious concerns regarding this camp, otherwise, the relocation of the rest of Ashraf residents will be rendered moot.

A stellar roster of former senior US officials and a bi-partisan group of members of US Congress have declared their readiness to visit Camp Liberty and confirm its suitability to accommodate the Iranian asylum seekers. Such a visit and unfettered access of journalists to the camp and its residents will help to assuage the widespread anxiety of US families of the residents over their safety. To this end, Secretary Clinton should use her good offices to facilitate such a visit.

Camp Ashraf is home to 3,400 members of Iran's principal opposition movement, the Mujahedin-e Khalq (PMOI/MEK) and their families, who were recognized by the United States as "Protected Persons" under the Fourth Geneva Convention in 2004.

New Pictures from Great Paris gathering : Maryam Rajavi and Mahin SAREMI, wife of ALI Saremi in support of Ashraf

The picture shows Mahin Saremi, escaped political prisoner and wife of veteran poltical prisoner ALI SAREMI delivers Ali Saremi's last handi craft "a butterfly of freedom" made in prison to Mrs. Rajavi at Great gathering in Villpeinte.

They say that Mahin has just escaped prison, since she was only allowed to participate in the 40th day ceremony of burial of her husband ALI SAREMI.

She had come out and read the support of all political prisoners of the "JUST and POPULAR and BRAVE" Mujahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK) .
She also denounced Ashraf attack since her son is there and her husband was charged to have visited the camp and sentenced to death for being a "Moharebeh" (anti-god) .

She also proved wrong allegations suggesting that the PMOI does not have a popular base in Iran.
The truth is clear and no comments needed.

Ahmad al-Alwani: UN has shortchanged Iranian refugees

In a press interview, Ahmad al-Alwani, a member of the Iraqi Parliament from al-Iraqia Coalition said: “The issue of Ashraf residents must be resolved in a humane manner; the Iraqi government must provide protection and security for Iranian refugees at Ashraf and should not give in to political pressure in its treatment of Ashraf residents,” al-Malaf website reported on June 3.

Al-Alwani, who is Chairman of the Economics Committee at the Iraqi Parliament, said: “Subsequent to transfer of Ashraf residents’ protection from the Americans to the Iraqis, there have been many major transgressions against Ashraf residents and their rights have been violated, last of which was slaying of more than 30 of them.”

According to al-Malaf, al-Alwani also expressed regret about the recent attack during which innocent residents of Camp Ashraf were killed and said such actions were contrary to Islam’s teachings.

In response to a question, al-Alwani declared his support for an international approach for resolution of the issue of Ashraf residents in order to end their suffering and to find a final peaceful solution in compliance with Geneva Conventions and international laws.

Al-Malaf wrote: “Al-Alwani also pointed out that the United Nations has shortchanged Ashraf residents in view of their sufferings, and called on the UN to provide a solution for Ashraf residents -- in accordance with human rights and UN conventions -- that guarantees their safety and does not force them to do anything and gives them the right to stay in Iraq or leave it as they decide.”

San Marino Parliament passes resolution on protection of Ashraf

The Parliament of San Marino Republic has adopted a resolution condemning the April 8 attack of the Iraqi army against the residents of Camp Ashraf, where more than 3,400 dissident Iranians are located.

The resolution said that although Ashraf is a well-recognized place on an international scale, the attack on the camp left 35 dead and over 300 severely injured. The raid was conducted even though the residents of Camp Ashraf are protected persons under the Fourth Geneva Convention and their rights must be respected, the statement said.

The Iraqi government has violated its obligations for the benefit of the Iranian regime and threats against the defenceless residents of Ashraf remain because of the presence of an armed force inside the camp.

The resolution also underscored the dire medical situation in the camp, where even those residents with gunshot wounds are not receiving proper medical care.

The Grand and General Council of San Marino Republic joined the United Nations Human Rights Commissioner for Human Rights and the UN mission Iraq by “decisively condemning the operations and armed attacks by Iraqi forces against Camp Ashraf.”

It called for “full, independent, and transparent investigations into the armed attack on Ashraf.”

It also highlighted the imperative to “provide humanitarian assistance and medicine as well as the guaranteeing of the wounded residents’ access to medical facilities, medicine and resources.

It said the protection of Ashraf must be ensured. The resolution added that the United Nations must assume the protection of Ashraf, improve its monitoring there and seek a solution that both respects Iraqi sovereignty and is based on ensuring compliance with International Humanitarian Law and human rights laws.

Khamnei vs AN: Report says Khamenei has given permission to verbally attack Ahmadinejad to soften shock of his removal should crisis intensifies .

NCRI - According to reliable reports received from sources inside the regime, after Ahmadinejad prevented mullah Moslehi from participating in the cabinet meeting for a second time, a session of regime’s Supreme Security Council was held at Khamenei’s order and it was decided that should Ahmadinejad insists on rejecting Moslehi, he would be ousted. A number of IRGC commanders, including Jafari, and a few members of regime’s parliament participated in this meeting and a number of decisions were made.

Subsequent to this meeting, Ahmadinejad, who contrary to regime’s traditions had not participated in the first 3 nights of annual ceremonies, showed up in the fourth and last night at Khamenei’s residence and invited Moslehi to the next cabinet meeting.

According to this report, Ahmadinejad has terminated the three ministers of Oil, Industry, and Welfare for their differences with Mashaei, and merging the ministries were only an excuse for him to remove them from their posts.

It is reported that Khamenei has now given his people permission to use verbal attacks against Ahmadinejad and criticize him at will, in order to reduce the shock and disorientation of regime’s forces, should the crisis intensifies and the decision for removal of Ahmadinejad is made.

This report indicates that Khamenei is trying to separate Ahmadinejad from Mashaei and the arrests of Ahmadinejad’s associates in recent weeks were aimed at this goal.

On the other hand, Ahmadinejad-Mashaei band believe that Khamenei does not have the power to remove Ahmadinejad, since such an action would be a serious blow to the regime, therefore, Khamenei will have to agree to Ahmandinejad’s actions, and such acquiescence will pave the way for Ahmadinejad’s future steps

Brave Al-Iraqi spokewoman:Under no circumstances Maliki has the right to attack Camp Ashraf .

Maysun al-Damluji, al-Iraqia spokesperson once again condemned the attack by forces under Nouri al-Maliki’s command against Camp Ashraf.

Expressing her opinion to the press, al-Damluji said: “I don’t comprehend that Camp Ashraf residents were attacked on what basis, because they are refugees in Iraq. Under no circumstances does al-Maliki’s government have the right to attack them.”
